  He began his martial arts journey in 1968 while in the Air Force stationed in Osan, Korea. He became a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do in 1969 and years later his 2nd and 3rd Degree Black Belt while under the instruction of Grand Master Chun Sik Kim.In 1971 while stationed in Thailand he became the 1st American to be tested and promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt by Grandmaster Precha Mahachanavong in the Lotus Style of Muay Thai Kickboxing Self-Defense. He trained with the Founder of and Grandmaster of the Okinawa Weapons System while stationed at Kadena Okinawa from 1977 to 1980.He currently holds an 8th Degree Grand Masters Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, awarded in 2018 after over 50 years of dedication and instruction.He has over 30 years of teaching in law enforcement and security officer training. He is a staff instructor in a highly recognized Sheriff's Regional Training Center. He holds teaching credentials in Medic 1st Aid and CPR, NRA Law Enforcement Firearms training, Pressure Point Control Techniques (PPCT) and Edged Weapon Defense, BSIS firearms and ASP baton, Crisis Prevention Intervention, POST Weaponless Defense.

Grandmaster Phillip R. Turner, 9th Dan.

He begain his training in the martial arts in 1971. On May 17, 2018 he was promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt Grand Master in Tang Soo Do after having trained under Grandmaster Darryl D. Khalid, the Founder (Do Ju Nim) of the Universal Tang Soo Do Alliance since 1979.  Additionally, he is a direct student of the late Grand Master Bong Soo Han of the International Hap Ki Do Federation whom promoted him on February 28, 2004 to 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hap Ki Do.  On February 18, 2017 Grand Master Tae Jung of the World Hap Ki Do Association promoted Grand Master Turner to the rank of 4th Dan Master in Hap Ki Do. Grandmaster Turner has had the experience of training in other martial arts as well.  Grand Master Turner has Master James Weakland teaching various classes offered at Morning Calm Tang Soo Do. Grand Master Turner was awarded a Master of Arts in Education Degree from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, San Bernardino.  He has been employed as a peace officer in Southern California for over twenty years.  Between 1996 and 1998 he was a contract instructor teaching defensive tactics/arrest control tactics for several different law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Grand Master Turner is also a State of California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy Instructor.  He is an expert in Use of Force and teaches various weapon systems including semi-auto pistol, revolver, AR-15/M4 Carbine, and shotgun.  He is also certified in teaching less lethal weapon systems including TASER and expandable baton.Grandmaster Turner continues to teach firearms/ defensive tactics classes to Law Enforcement Agencies and law-abiding civilians. Grand Master Turner is happily married and has two children.

 

 

 

Grandmaster David L Reed, 9th Dan.

He started at the local YMCA in 1970 in Judo and Jujitsu. Throughout the 70s he trained in Jeet Kune Do, Tae Kwon Do and then in 1979 started in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan..He tested for 1st Dan under Chuck Norris in 1984 and GM Jeong Sook Lee in 1985 and 2nd Dan in 1987. Then he met GM Ho Sik Pak. Re-tested and promoted to 1st and 2nd Dan in USTSDMDK (29476), re-testing required with Federation membership) He co-founded and opened Reed's Active Martial Arts and Wellness Club in Germany and in California with Master Lady L. Reed. full instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu/ Jeet Kune Do. Tai Chi and Qigong, Wei Kuen Do. He started teaching in 1980. In 2019 he was promoted to 9th Dan by GM Darryl Khalid.

Grandmaster Theodore Jackson, 7th Dan.

1951  -  2022

 

 He started his martial art career in 1967, in Brooklyn, New York's Tang Dojo Shotokan

Karate under Tom LePuppet and George Coffield. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1972, during the end of the Vietnam War, and was later stationed in England, where he began training in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. He earned his first Dan in 1977, and opened his first school while stationed with the Air Force in Germany.When he later returned to the U.S., he opened a school in Tampa, FL. He won a number of US and European championships in fighting, forms and weapons. After competing for a number of years, he began to focus more time on teaching. He returned to England for a second tour, and opened a school at Royal Air Force Bentwaters. When his Master instructor retired, Master Jackson took over the school. He was then an E Dan.

In 1983, Master Jackson left the Tang Soo Do Moo Kuk Kwan Federation and joined the World Tang Soo Do Association. He returned to the U.S. in 1987 and was stationed at Vandenberg AFB in California, where he came under the direction of Master Frank Waller, Jr. In 1998, Master Jackson received his Master's belt from Grand Master Shin. Grandmaster Jackson was a member of the Universal Tang Soo Do Alliance and was promoted to 7th Dan in 2018 by Grandmaster Khalid,Grandmaster Jackson was the founder of the first Tang Soo Do School on the Central Coast which offered classes through the City of Lompoc's Parks and Recreation Department in Lompoc.

 

 

 

Grandmaster Darryl Kahlid Jr, 8th Dan

 

He has been teaching Tang Soo Do for 38 years. He is an 8 time World Champion in Tang Soo Do, and also represented the USA at the international TSD championships, twice won silver and the other bronze. He has won the light middleweight for the NBL and won The AZ Championship Tournament and held the AZ Championship belt.

He has done stunt work on movies projects like Posse and Just the Vampire scenes. He also choreographed fight scenes for music videos. He had been on TV for 10 years on Soul Train also. He won the legendary contest Mr Soul train in 97 and still holds the title till this day. He teaches Hip Hop dance for 13 years at all colleges in Arizona. He has done production work entertainment for Alice Cooper for 13 years. He opened up the show the Christmas pudding. He has performed for the Michael Jackson family work with Smokey Robinson at the fashion show. He opened up for late night talk show Stephanie Miller's show in 96 with Danny bonaduce from The Partridge Family, He has modeled for Adidas internationally for 6 years and modeled top clothing companies. He has done runway fashion shows and major corporate events like Microsoft Apple.
